We always hear the word fiber!
Eat more fiber!! I am sure that you’ve probably heard it before 😉
A lot of us knows that fiber is very good and healthy for our body but some people are still wondering what exactly is fiber and what are the fiber rich foods!!!
Dietary fiber includes all parts of plant foods that your body can’t digest or absorb. Unlike other food components such as fats, proteins or carbohydrates, fiber isn’t digested by your body, so it passes through your stomach, small intestine, colon and out of your body, offering several important roles in maintaining good health 🙂
A high fiber diet is no doubt essential for everyone! I will mention to you the most important benefits these fiber rich foods can offer to you!!
Controling blood sugar levels: Fiber slows the absorption of sugar and so improves blood sugar levels! Thus a high fiber diet has been associated with a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Helping in weight loss process. High-fiber foods need more chewing time, giving you a quick feeling of satiety so you end up eating less! A high-fiber diet also has fewer calories for the same volume of food 🙂
Normalising bowel movements. A high fiber diet increases the weight and size of your stool and softens it preventing constipation problems. That has a direct effect on colorectal cancer, a form of colon cancer. A high fiber diet also provides relief from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
I have posted for you an interesting video that tells you the most important foods high in fiber, in the descending order!
