I was at Sultan center and it was the first time I see the liquid sweeteners. I directly asked myslef how healthy can that be?!
The brand I saw was the ” Sweet’N Low”.
Whether switching from sugar to the artificial sweetener, choosing the right kind of sweeteners is no doubt important.
The most important and commonly used brands are Equals, Sweet’N Low, Splenda, tropicana and Canderel.
Note that!!! The artificial ingredients found in “Sweet’ N Low” are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And if you are diabetic, it is important to note that the American Diabetes Association (ADA) lists Sweet’N Low as approved sugar substitutes.
Sweet’N Low is made from Saccharine. The sweetness of saccharine is 300 to 500 times that of the regular sugar.
( 1 packet of Sweet’N low is equal to 2 teaspoons of sugar). Saccharine is an FDA-approved substance today, while it was banned long time ago because of some reported cases regarding bladder tumors. But then 30 humans studies reported no tumors.
Sweet’N Low liquid contains zero calories and carbohydrates, so it can be taken by diabetic people!
Personally I always feel a bitter taste after using” Sweet N Low”. So I used to have Tropicana sugar, Natural sugar made of corn, with only 3 calories per sachet.
I switched now to Free-cal Sugar, made of Sucralose, which is 100 % approved by FDA to be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women! It doesn’t go into the bloodstream and is directly excreted!
For those who want to try the Sweet N Low Sweetener, 2 drops of the liquid sweetener is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of simple white sugar.
It can be used for your cold or hot drinks, or even for baking sweet cakes and cream pies!
Ramadan is here!!! Baking with sugar substitutes is recomended! All of the substitutes have less calories, are less health risky and do not cause blood sugar problems like diabetes.
Enjoy your favorite sweets but with less calories!!!
