I started to do the survey among people , and what I got as a final result was that almost 75 % of guys do have cravings for meat and salty snacks, while girls usually suffer from sweet cravings!
And this is not so strange I guess. I personally notice that girls love to munch on chocolate, candies, ice cream. And I used to be a big fan of all that! 😉
They don’t even have organised meals due to these cravings. They prefer to take a small lunch for example and to leave the big space for their favorite dessert 😀
The causes of these cravings can vary a lot among people but in general the causes can be due to hormonal imbalances especially in insulin and serotonin, unhealthy dieting, stress and fatigue, as well as various eating disorders.
And these cravings are somehow linked to emotional eating…
Do you know that sugar is a kind of drug??
Yeah in fact the more sweet you take in, the more your body Will ask for it the next time!
Here are 5 easy tips that can help you overcome the cravings for sugar:
1- Don’t ever start your day with a sweet breakfast: As I mentioned above, sugar is a drug, If you gonna start your day with a doughnut and a juice for example, you will raise your insulin level and you will crave for sweet for the rest of the day.
Instead, a cup of milk with cereals, an omelet or even a sandwich with turkey and cheese are smart and great options to start with.
2- Brush your teeth after having breakfast, lunch and dinner:
This method works a lot! The taste of the the toothpaste will decrease and prevent your cravings a lot!!
If, after 10 minutes, you still want sweets, gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash! 😀
3- Remove your temptations:
Go through your refrigerator, and get rid of all these cakes, ice cream, cheesecakes. Do the same in your office, remove all these tempting cravings from your drawer. You eyes will be stronger than your mind!
Leave some nuts, some dry fruits, and just one piece of dark chocolate for sweet taste satisfaction.
Remember that you need some sweets during the day, for you not to binge on it later on!
4- Go for high quality snacks:
That means you need to read labels and thus make healthy choices.
Instead of having a whole candy bar, go for the small piece of chocolate that says 70% dark chocolate.
Instead of the milky ice cream scoop, choose the sorbet which is half the fat, the sugar and the calories.
Instead of milkshakes and juices, make a fresh fruit salad with all fruit colors. Add some sweeteners to it, and why not a light chocolate syrup 😉
5- Do not skip any of your 3 meals!
Avoid skipping meals (especially breakfast) and have small and frequent meals every 2 to 3 hours to help keep your blood sugar level stable.
This method will also eliminate your body’s need for a quick sugar fix.
And a final tip!!
If you have the sugar blues in the morning around 10 to 10.30 and again in the afternoon around 2 to 4, a cup of ginger, green tea or white tea! will help! 🙂
